Poor wages and bad management - a look into Wellington's only gay nightclub.

12:36PM It has been revealed today that poor wages and bad management may be hindering Wellington's only gay Nightclub. The club has been under fire more in recent times due to lack of staging for drag queens, ghosts and bad lighting, but it is now also known for lack of payment or late payment for entertainment. Several top drag queens of the Wellington region have given their services cut price to help out the venue, however the low fees are still unpaid.

One entertainer - who is now revealed to be flamboyant showgirl Felicity Frockaccino, has said "We are sick to death of giving cost prices, doing a show, the management agreeing to pay us when we hand our invoices over, hosting/emceeing the event and not being paid. It takes time for us to make ourselves look fabulous and we do expect to be paid for bringing in the clientele we perform for. I have been doing shows [at the nightclub] for over a year and in that time I've been paid for one, maybe two shows. It's appaling, absolutely".

Bad management and staff walkouts are also confirmed as 3 of the clubs workers have in recent times left, often with events and other amazing ideas crushed due to the director not caring for their staff, who are believed to be working for a lousy 13 dollars an hour and often not being paid for overtime and late.

The director of the club could not be contacted at time of release.

Dance Your Way to the TOP!

Well tonight ladies and gentlemen, I am relieved. A Gay man has won Dancing With The Stars.
Tamati Coffey accompanied by lovely dance partner Samantha Hitchcock, took the title in this years Dancing With The Stars, as televised on TV One.
Tamati spent more the 480 hours or about 9 hours a day for 7 weeks dancing his little socks off. He learned 10 dance routines - all standard ballroom dances, to a professional level for the people of New Zealand to vote on.
Vote - well, vote they did! The Jason Gunn-hosted show, saw the closest voting in New Zealand's Dancing With The Stars with tonights show and what a tight end!

Both Barbara Kendall and Tamati recieved near perfect and perfect scores for their glamourous dances, consiting of leg lifts, pivots, heel lifts and Kendall's "death-defying" up-turn as choreographed by Johnny Williams.
Viewing the sculptured and fluent choreography had to be seen to be believed, Amazing work.
I give my warmest congratulations to Tamati for giving his time, energy and effort into promoting and raising funds for Rainbow Youth and to Barbara for comming a close second.
She was truely the better dancer of the night.
Congratulations Tamati, you deserve everything coming your way!

The Week That Was: Unsightly Spitting & Sabotage

I've recently been taken back by the many horrible things that change one persons life. For me, that horrible thing is spitting. How many times do you see a person, anybody, spit? For me - quite a number of times. It's disgusting, it's repulsive and it's an everyday occurrence. It's something we shouldn't have to put up with or view, but in reality, there is no choice.

So I was walking down Courtenay place in Wellington the other day and I was aware of the little gang of guys watching me walk down the street, just one thing, before I hear you ask, no I wasn't in Drag. Without even saying a word or looking at the guys, I could sense I was in for a treat. A big wet slimy spitter of a treat. As soon as I hear it, I instantly start walking faster but unfortunately, I was hit with a spit. EW! just off the ankle it fell and big... Was it ever!

Before I could turn around, they were gone. I was disgusted and appalled. Why do such a thing? I've slowly moved on.

Before I go into much detail about last Friday's sabotage, I much say, I was pleased with how many people faced a chilly Friday night to come and see our first big show of the year.

"Girls of the Playboy Mansion" was our first block-buster show consisting of myself and a few local Divas and all in all, I was impressed.

Our Choreography went well, considering we had a "Effie-esk" situation with a Diva who didn't want to perform and our costumes were flawless, considering the fact we had spent $100 on other fabric that didn't sew. They were very minor sabotages, however, they did not compare to the night that was - Friday Night.

We were bombarded with a fire drill, club owners who knew diddly squat about their own lighting (thank god one of us has studied lighting!) and people not paying for tickets. I had about just enough of this unspoken sabotage, so I rolled up my 3 pairs of 50 Denier stockings and took charge.

After what seemed like a whole hour, we had the show running in an orderly fashion, free of sabotage and drama. The show went on, and it was FLAWLESS!

We hear and see Sabotage, but rarely face it, so this week I encourage you all... FACE YOUR SABOTAGE!
